14 Ways to Take Years off Your Face

You don't need heavy cosmetics or costly procedures to maintain a youthful appearance. Make it a habit to practice these simple suggestions and you'll look and feel younger than ever!

Practice gratitude. Be thankful for your life and the amazing experiences you have had and will continue to have rather than being stressed about growing older. Aging is a luxury that not everyone gets to enjoy.

Invest in a skincare routine. Your skin isn't something you should skimp on. Choose a dermatologist-recommended cleanser, toner, antioxidant serum, eye cream, spot treatment and moisturizer for daily and nightly use.

Go for a dewy glow. Use hydrating products like illuminating moisturizers and skin mists (and drink plenty of water to hydrate internally) to get a healthy, glowing skin.

Opt for creamy make up. Cream-based cosmetics tend to have a richer, shinier finish than powder.

Rinse your face with cool water. Hot water can dehydrate skin, whereas cool/lukewarm water reduces redness by constricting blood vessels.

Treat acne spots and scars. There are lots of natural remedies that can help eliminate dark spots and scars, including aloe vera, coconut oil, vitamin C, frankincense, and shea butter.

Apply natural make up. Don't overdo your make up as it can easily make you appear older while also clogging your pores, thus damaging your complexion.

Lighten the hair around your face. The tone you go for is critical: stay away from cool, ashy tones and add some warmth to your look with golden highlights.

Always, always remove your make up. The cardinal rule of skin care is to never go to sleep with make up on due to the long-lasting damage it can have on your skin.

Use a silk pillow case. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase reduces the appearance of wrinkles and helps your skin and hair stay healthy and smooth.

Wear sunblock, sunglasses and a hat outdoors. A summer tan isn't worth the damaging toll that UV rays take on your skin.

Treat your skin from the inside out. Eat healthy, whole foods that are clean, such as lean meats, beans, and lots of fruits and vegetables. Stay away from too much alcohol and sugar.

Sleep on your back. Most wrinkles happen in our sleep (think those lines on your chest and forehead). Sleeping on your back can help you avoid this.
